Hello, so I am in the market for a new PSU and need recommendations. I am currently using an OCZ StealthXStream 600W psu that I have been using for 4yrs and its starting to sound like a jet engine. Anyway I was looking at a OCZ ModXStream 500W to replace it and was wondering if this will give enough juice to power my system w/o problems. And another qs. Is it possible to run it with a lower wattage psu? My gpu recommends at least 500W. Thanks.

Here's my setup:
CPU: Phenom II X4 B55 (3.36GHz) slight OC, nothing major.
MB: Asus M4A79XTD Evo
Memory: A-Data Gaming Series 6gb running @ 1700
GPU: HIS Radeon HD 6850
HDD: 1 WD Caviar Black 1TB

Let me know if you need any more info on my set-up and thanks again.

Phenom II X4 B55 or 955 :)

OCZ ModXStream 500W is adequate for your need if you are not going to UPGRADE your rig in future. Seasonic S12ii 520w is also a good budget friendly solid PSU. I do not recommend you to buy anything lower than 500w.

Well it originally was a Phenom II X2 555 and used the MOBO's core unlocker to get the X4 and it now shows up as a B55 on CPUID, but I think it's the same thing as a 955 anyway so yeah. And thanks for the answer.

just remember that you wont be able to upgrade and if you have been using your current CPU for several years I would assume that you are going to assume that you will being upgrading soon. I would reccomend that you get one that will be able to support your future system too so that you don't have to buy another one when you upgrade
