i5-4690k with msi z97-g45 vs. i5-4670k with msi z87-g45

So im building my first custom pc and face a hard decision that due to my inexperience need that i need help with. As it will be a gaming computer people told me not to get an i7 for the cpu but instead go for the i5-4690k. However this means that i need a z97 mobo. Should i go with

1). i5-4690k w/ msi z97-45 gaming (50 euro extra)
2). i5-4670k w/ msi z87-45 gaming

the first option is around 50 Euro more expensive and im not sure if this will be worth it. The pc will be used for gaming and general usage without any heavy photoshop or video editing. i plan on overclocking but once the cpu begins to get older (1-2 years)

and if i do choose the 4670k is there any chance of it slowing down, not being good enough or bottlenecking a gigabyte r9-290 which comes factory overclocked

Both of those are very good solutions. The newer Devil's Canyon CPU with the z97 chipset is designed to overclock better than the older model. SO in overclocked performance, the newer i5-4690K will make the gap between it and the slightly older i5-4670K bigger than the stock 10%-15% improvement.

Only you can tell if that improvement is worth the 50 Euros.

Neither of them will perform significantly different with respect to your graphics card. Both of them are sufficient for your graphics card.

The newer Z97 chipset is slightly higher binned and has a few more features that can be on the Z97 motherboards, like M.2 which has some advantages like Sata Express. And the i5 4690K binned higher then the other haswell i5 processors...As Intel manufactures more of these CPUs they will be more efficient in time....AS you may know shortly after the i7 4770K launched the reviews were that it ran significantly hotter than the i7 3770K. Especially once overclocked. almost a year later the i7 4770k will generally get better overclocks with lower voltages then a year ago. So I would wait a few months at least on getting a new i5 4690k as the silicon lottery may be better then...
