  1. I recommend this
    http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VS239H-P-23-Inch-Full-HD-Monitor/dp/B008DWITHI/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1403234223&sr=1-9&keywords=vx229h

$155 for a 23" IPS monitor is a really good deal. I have it too and I don't see any problems with it. There might be some screen tearing with 1GB of VRAM.

Sorry for me asking, but could you explain the reasons for choosing that one? Much appreciated.
  4. I'd definitely get the VX238H out of your options OP. IPS has more quality in my opinion so you should definitely go for the VS239H.
  5. The usual monitors you see on sale are mostly using the TN panel. It's cheap and good.

IPS monitors are a lot better in terms of colour, but their refresh timings are a little slow, so you might face some screen tearing in games.

But if you stretch your budget a little bit more, this would a better choice

Thank you for all the help! That one looks great.
  8. IPS monitors are going to be the best bet for gaming because you get near-perfect brightness across the screen no matter where your viewing point is. And if possible, Matte>Gloss for IPS panels. All the above suggestions are fantastic. ASUS monitors are currently outperforming the previous DELL mega-monitor series because of their bargain prices for what they are delivering.

Forgot to mention. Get a tn panel for gaming only purpose. Get an ips monitor if doing anything else like watching movies, etc.

Is there a down side to using the IPS panel for gaming?

Generally, TN panels have a faster refresh rate and therefore will be a little smoother in some sections with fast motion compared to an IPS panel. But IPS panels usually have better color accuracy and brightness across their display.

IPS screens usually run around 60hz like most screens, so you're really not going to notice much of a difference whatsoever.
