So I went to my closest computer store called Canada computers which is why I'm worried about this subject, the negative reviews aren't related to my problem but I'd like to see some ideas on what I should do. So I just bought an open box gtx 750 (there weren't any others) and all the components were in it the poster, driver disk etc. But the thing is even the wrapper covering the card was opened which made me wonder who would trade in a perfect gtx 750 and even open it which also makes be think it was either defective or they might have broken it and gave it back and somehow lied since the store is too lazy to even test if it's broken I'm buying parts but not at the same time so I cant test it but I'm starting to think i should return it and hopefully get a refund and buy a different card because I'm not sure if the store lied to me or not can I get some advice on what i should do?

It is possible that somebody bought the CPU, attempted to install it, and realized it was the wrong socket and didn't fit. There's also the possibility that it doesn't work. But why not try it and see? If it doesn't work, take it back, unless you're about to hit a return deadline (like 30 days) then don't take the risk.

it could be that someone bought the card, installed it and just did not like the performacne it was giving them so upgraded to something else.

or it could be that it was defective.

no way to know for sure if you cannot test it right away.

i would return the card since you cannot test it it is working or not then hold off on buying parts until you have enough for everything.

in general its not worth buying parts piecemeal. its better to save up and buy them all at once. its quite possible to have issues with even brand new parts so you really want to have everything at once so you can rma if need be. if not then you are on your own trying to deal with manufacturer warranties and that is definitely not as easy as a return & replacement would be.

Thanks I'll head to the store as soon as possible, get a refund and just buy a different version of the 750 I dont want to live with the risk of wasting $150. Also wondering who wouldn't like the performance of it, it's a really good card.
