Got a letter in the mail 2 weeks ago from a comany stating they were looking for an apprentice (they got my details from JTL) so i sent a cover letter + my CV. They sent me an email asking me to go down to have an "informal" chat with the electrical team.

What should i expect? What should i ask? And should i wear a suit for an informal chat?

Getting this job would mean a lot to me if i got it. so any advice is welcome

They want to see what you look like and sound like. What you don't get from an email.

Wear neat casual - going to a restaurant - clothes. Have a haircut if you need one.

Don't talk over them. Respond in such way as to put forward another reason to get your eg' What salary are you looking for?' 'I'd just love to get into this business. It's where I see my future.'

Don't talk too much or not enough. 1 minute responses.

Hmm, so will I be able to get the job from this or will i be asked to go back for a full interview?

They are 'shortlisting' - deciding who to get back for a full interview.

Will this result in a hard job offer? Completely unknown.
They may be interviewing 50 people. Or 2 people.

Be the best you can be and see what happens. Last time I went job hunting, I sent out 50+ resumes. Next time may be 100+.

Yes. Or no.

A bit of both. They want to see how you talk and your body language.

Just respond briefly to their questions. Look them in the eye. Sit up straight, legs slightly apart. Look confident.

Dress nice.
Be professional.
Be honest.
Know what you're talking about. "I don't know, but I can find out" is often a valid answer.
