High resolution - vs - Better Graphics settings (Ultra, V.high, high)

hi there,

i'm just wandering what gives the best visual experience, when gaming.
Playing a game on Ultra settings on a 1920×1080 monitor..
or if you dialled it down to high~ settings on a 2560×1440.

so, higher resolution vs better graphics.

which would be the better choice?
i've no real experience with this, so i've just been speculating.

I personally think ultra 1080p is best for right now because most people can't afford a card that can handle more thank 1080p. I'm sure my setup could but for me, the other big factor is I only have a 1080p monitor

yeah, i'm getting a setup that can handle 2560x1440… but i'm wandering for how long… (plus i only have a 1080p monitor)

i'll see how i fare.
