Use of color tags?

The color tags confuse me somewhat. They seem to be ignored in my posts. If they were not, then this sentence would have been "not black".

Blow me over. Now it works.

AFAIK, there are two different ways to do colour.

[color=008000]Stuff[/color]
[color=#008000]More stuff[/color]

Both should work equally well.

EDIT: Wow. Hit the BB button to see what I actually wrote. Looks like it parsed it and then converted it back to BBCode...
