Is it possible to use 4k with integrated graphics intel 4600 on CPU i7 4970k?

I am getting a 4k samsung monitor as a gift for my new system build. My question is that will the intel 4600 integrated graphic able to handle 4k resolution. I am getting the new Devil's Canyon 4970k. I basically need it for productivity. I just want to have 4 or 3 different VM's running on the same screen.
And I want to try and hold off to buy a new GPU until the new Maxwell's come out in Q4. **NO gaming or Videos for now at-least**

4970K? You mean 4790K. That GPU cannot handle 4K at all. It will run, but NOT smoothly. I would say running 1080P or 1440P is your best bet for now.

I got the new Intel Devil's Canyon i7 processor 4970k :) Do you recommend any budget graphics card that can handle 4k resolution?

from everything I have read you will be fine with a 4k monitor as long as you have the correct hookups for both your computer and what the monitor will receive.

but yes 4k resolution is supported and will work perfectly for your needs

4k will be laggy even with desktop use ESPECIALLY running virtual machines with HD 4600.

personally I would try out your new monitor before getting a GPU and see how well it works.

my old i5 2500k powers two 1080p monitors and has also powered my 1440p monitor without lag issues.

I could be wrong here as I never tried with a 4k monitor but even with virtual machines it is still only one output graphically.

I would think this would mean that CPU cores and RAM are the only limitations to using VM. It should not really affect the graphics as it is still only one output. IF you are not doing any graphically difficult proccesses then I would think you are fine.

Any update on 4k is it laggy?

I have a 4770k with displayport 1.2 on my z87 extreme4 motherboard.
I am hoping to run a UP2414Q at 4k 60hz off the motherboard.
Just 2d desktop/browsing... no 3d.

Update everyone I am running a new UP2414Q A01 at 4k 60hz off the Intel HD 4600 GPU.
Had to install latest Intel GPU driver and switch to dp 1.2.
Windows works beautifully, as one 4k screen no collage mode required.
Browsing/2d/photoshop/video all work smooth perfect and seamless, smooth, no tearing.
The only issue I have to crack now is it doesn't always wake up properly when my motherboard goes to sleep.

I almost guarantee that is a driver issue. my crossfire rig used to have the same issue. i just had to turn my monitors off until a driver update came out. I am happy to here everything is working great and now my search for an affordable 4k monitor is on again.

so jealous btw

Update UP2414Q having problems resuming from sleep.
50% it doesn't wake up have to manually turn off/on to get display.
When display does come up it is in minimum resolution have to adjust to 4k in Windows display setting.
Problem got worse with most recent Intel GPU updates.

Have you resolved this issue? I have been struggling with this for a few months now also. Looking all over the web and also contacting Samsung with no luck. I am using the DP port and supplied cable and running that to my Maximus VI Impact.

no budget card will be able to handle 4k i would start saving for a 970 or 980 GTX NVIDIA or a 960 could do but you won't run annything at max settings.

My 4770k has been running up2414q 4k 60hz over dp1.2 flawlessly in Win 8.1 for a year.
Motherboard is z87 extreme4/tb4.
Newest intel HD drivers even support 4k hardware acceleration.
I don't play 3d games but for desktop 2d work it is flawless.
I sold my GPU I don't need the extra heat and power draw.
