Hi im making a AMD based build for gaming. My budget is $850 or £500. I just want to know if what i got is okay and if there is anything better in the same price range.

This is what i got so far:
CPU: AMD FX 6300 £80
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 660 2GB £110
Case: Zalman Z11 Plus £55
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 £70
SSD: Kingston 120GB V300 SSDnow £45
HDD: Generic 500GB £30
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CXM 600W £55
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz £70

Excellent motherboard , great processor

The only thing I would wonder about is the graphics card . Im not sure of UK pricing but if you can find a radeon 7870 for the same money it generally performs a little better

The RAM should be a dual channel kit . 2 x4 gig

I'm buying single channel because I will upgrade later and thanks for the tip with the graphic card I might consider buying it as it's only £10 more.

Switched some parts around, this should serve you fairly well

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor (£70.20 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£49.52 @ Ebuyer)
Memory: Crucial 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£53.98 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£44.94 @ CCL Computers)
Storage: Hitachi Deskstar 750GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£29.70 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280 3GB TWIN FROZR Video Card (£159.59 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Case: Corsair SPEC-01 RED ATX Mid Tower Case (£37.99 @ Scan.co.uk)
Power Supply: XFX 550W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£44.11 @ CCL Computers)
Total: £490.03

I'd suggest adding an aftermarket cooler if you can add a little more to your budget, the stock cooler of the FX 6300 performs like arse. If you drop the SSD from the build, and a get a less fancier case the card can be upgraded to a R9 280x, which has graphical performance on par with the GTX 770, pair it up with a FX 8320 and it'll run games at Ultra just fine.
