I built my PC in 2011. Just recently I got bored and started viewing sites for parts and getting an idea of prices and whats new today.

What I have at the moment:
i5 2500K 3.3Ghz
Asrock Z68-Extreme 4
8gb G.Skill Ripjaws 2000Mhz
120gb OCZ Agility III SATA3 (SSD)
Sapphire ATI AMD HD6970 2gb (OC)
850W Enermax Modular 82+

I had this built back in 2011 with additional parts (i.e. HDD, cooler, OS, etc.) for around $2000.

I was thinking of either upgrading or just selling this and buying something new....

Whats your opinion?

I viewed the prices from two local computer based stores and picked the cheapest. This is what I selected.

CPU: Intel i7 4790K ($405)
CPU Cooler: Not sure.
Motherboard: ASRock Z97-Extreme6 ($229)
Memory: 16G Kit 2133(8Gx2) G.Skill Ripjaws-X ($209)
HDD 1: SanDisk Extreme II SATA3 – 240gb ($185)
HDD 2: 2TB WD Black FAEX SATA3 ($169)
Video Card: 4G R9-290 Gigabyte-WF3 ($449)
DVD Writer: SATA Blu-Ray Combo Pioneer ($59)
Case: Thermaltake A71 ($168)
Power: Coolermaster Vanguard 80Plus Gold Full-Modular 850 ($213)
System: Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit ($167)
-------------------------------------------
Total: $2253.00 AUD
-------------------------------------------

Slightly over my price range. But I really wanted a good video card, so I am prepared to spend 25-30% of the total on just the card. The motherboard not entirely sure about (as in whether its a good one), the SSD market I am not really familiar with... my current OCZ had so many driver issues and even to this day it does not perform as advertised, so I really need a reliable SSD.

The machine is mainly for PC gaming, with some work.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated from gaming gurus/experts :)

Cheers.
