I am making my first computer build and have a budget of £1000 (including monitor)
here is my build, if you could share suggestions and opinions it would be very helpful

Is this a good build? how can I make it better? and ill it be able to run modern games on a good resolution?

Seems like a good build, I'd opt for a Caviar black drive opposed to a blue, blacks are the performance drives so they've got faster read/write speeds than the blue and green. (Red is NAS).

Why not look at the new z97 chipset or at least the new i5 4690/4690k. If you're not going to overclock just get the non-k version.You can check to see if the motherboard you're buying has a bios update that supports the new devils canyon CPUs.
Cruical m500 is a bit older, you can get the new MX100 256GB drive for probably around the same price.
The PSU isn't my favorite choice, but it is certainly powerful enough to run everything.
You don't really need 16GB of memory unless you're planning to be doing video editing/photoshop and things of that nature. Just get 2x4GB sticks and put the money toward a better GPU or bigger SSD.
As far as running modern games at good frame rates and resolutions, you won't have any trouble.
