Hey guys...got a weird issue I am having trouble with and hoping someone can help me out before I go crazy.

I have an HP envy 700-056 ( A10 6700 APU ,12 gb ram, 2 tb HD )....A few months back I upgraded the PSU to a CX430 and I upgraded to a Asus HD 6670. Everything worked great with the setup.

Well I decided I wanted to get some better components to be able to play more demanding games so I recently picked up a CX600 PSU and an ASUS GTX 760 OC edition.

The problem I am having rather it be watch dogs, battlefield 3 or even minecraft is that I keep having a "stutter" issue. My frame rates will be good, game looks crisp and plays smoothly and then all of a sudden there is a lag/studder and the frames will dip momentarily and then come back. more so during fast paced movement such as when driving a car in watch dogs or when running and jumping in minecraft for example.

I have the latest nvidia drivers, I even tried rolling back to the drivers that came with the card from asus. I have tried all game settings from low to ultra, the computer is all up to date, games are all up to date,I have tried running with over clocking and also running at factory clock specs. The gpu is not over heating (it will even happen when as cool as 30c), I have checked windows processing to make sure there isnt any unnecessary CPU usage going on or something and nothing out of the norm there either.

Ive tried about all I can think of,not sure what the issue could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated!. Thanks in advance!

As a last resort that may be what I end up having to do. But I was hoping maybe someone had a magical fix for the issue before I have to go down that road lol

I would suspect an underpowered CPU rather than the GPU being faulty, unless the OP is also getting random BSOD's and shutdowns.

Like I said, I previously had a ASUS HD 6670 installed in this same computer and it ran fine. I played minecraft on it without issue and I played battlefield 4 on medium/high settings without issues and I played watch dogs on medium without issues. Now with this gtx 760 I am trying the same games and also battlefield 3 on all settings and having this issue. So I doubt Its an issue with the cpu being under powered (also I have monitored the CPU usage and it isnt maxing out or anything).

And no blue screening or shut downs or anything either. Just this weird "studder/lagging" issue

Well obviously a weak CPU has no effect on system performance at all, if it did you'd think that someone would release say an API that reduced the overhead for weak CPU's. :sarcastic:

You said its happening even when your GPU is at 30C. I feel like even a very light load would bring your temps to 50-60C range, unless you're on liquid. Not to be patronizing but are you sure you plugged your display into the gpu and not the integrated?

If you are, there is something going on with your gpu because like I mentioned, 30C is not a temp you will see under load on even a great air cooled rig.

To OP - ...so what is the CPU's maximum temperature while gaming?

i am afraid if its a faulty gpu there is no magical way to fix it .....
