Should i Take HTML In School

Hi, I'm in highschool and going into the 10th grade and I've always wanted to take programming classes and my school offers them. I'm just not sure where to start. My school offers Programming and design for the web or what people call HTML, Intro, Intermediate, and Advanced Topics in C and data structures, and AP computer science. im curious if i should take html or not, all these classes are 1 semester (.5 credits) except for AP computer science. A lot of people tell me that HTML is a waste of time but I'm curious what some more experienced programmers have to say.

HTML is probably the first language you should learn when learning programming. After HTML you can learn Javascript, and so on.

HTML is not a programming language. It is a document markup language.

If you want to learn programming, start with intro C and continue along those tracks; AP computer science will make for a good complimentary class to intro C.
