[Dual minitor] Second monitor goes into sleep mode

Hello everyone!
I have a r9 280x GPU and I'm running windows 8.1 pro.

My main monitor is an Asus VG248QE that is connected with a DVI-D port.
My secondary monitor is an Samsung SyncMaster t220 connected with a DVI-I port. (which does to sleep mode).

One device manager it shows both monitors are connected but when I right click on my desktop and go to screen resolution and try to extend the desktop to my Samsung monitor I get the error "This display can not be saved. Please try another combination of display".

I would really appreciate any help!

try going into your amd CC (control Centre) and make sure that the multimonitor settings are truely connected to the Samsung Monitor. and if the problem consists change the MONITORS settings its self by using the buttons on the monitor its self to turn off its automatic sleep mode
