Hi,

I just built my first PC and I want to make sure my CPU temps are correct (I think I might have not installed the H110 correctly). While browsing or watching videos, my CPU is about 35-43 °C. When I'm gaming (played Mirror's Edge with everything maxed out), my CPU is at 55-63 °C.

It's that ''normal''?

Those are good temps. Try downloading and running Prime95 and see what that runs your temps to. Is your chip overclocked? If so, to what speed?

I ran Prime95 in Blend Mode and I got to 65 degrees. However, in Small FFTs, it got to 100 degrees instantly and I stopped the test!

The blend mode temp is fine. You may need to increase your voltage to keep it stable on the Small FFTs and you'll want to double check your cooler install.

Having said that, nothing you'll be doing with your PC is going to stress your CPU like Prime95. If your temps are good for everything else and you're not planning on trying to do massive overclocking, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I did some more checking on norms for that cooler and CPU - while the temps are still fine, they should be a little lower. I'd recommend reapplying your thermal paste and double checking your H110 install.

Bananagab,

Sorry, but your question is unqualified. There are far too many variables involved to define "normal" based upon incomplete information such as clock speed, vcore and ambient temperature, just to mention a few.

Temperatures while browsing website X or watching video Y or running game Z doesn't qualify for a meaningful comparison. There's no way to compare apples to oranges.

Intel provides specifications and standards so apples to apples comparisons can be made under certain controlled conditions.

We should all remember from junior high school science class the basic principals of a scientifically controlled experiment.

Only thermal tests performed at dead idle and 100% workload are valid. Whatever temperatures you get between those two test points while running X and/or Y and/or Z software tasks "is what it is".

What we can say for certain is that at these system specs __________ and BIOS settings __________ and at __ C ambient, my rig idles at __ C and runs 100% workload at __ C. Anything else is apples to oranges fruit salad in a blender!

If you want to understand Intel processor temperatures and how to properly test your idle and load temperatures, then give this a read: Intel Temperature Guide - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-1800828/intel-temp...

I know this isn't the answer you were looking for, but it's the most informed and appropriate answer I can give you.

I hope this helps,
