  • Yes - if Ubuntu was no longer free and cost the same as Windows.

  • Maybe - if Windows offerred a free version (i.e. Windows Home, Basic, etc.) or if Windows were sold at a lower price.

  • No - I would even match the cost of Windows and pay for Ubuntu.

Was just curious because a friend of mine introduced me to Ubuntu, and his reasoning was because he didn't want to buy a new computer nor didn't want to buy a Windows upgrade for his old hardware. Couple months later I was on the same boat as my friend, so I visited a tech shop to seek for advice.
I was speaking with a "tech" from the tech shop, and while we were talking about new vs older hardware, he mentioned/recommended Ubuntu as a replacement for XP for the same reasons as my friend had said.
So before switching, I wanted to find out what cross-over Ubuntu folks had to say/their reasons, other than because it's free that have similarities to Windows.

I think we get the drift, but you are more likely to get the answers you want by posting your polls in one of the Windows forums.
