Hi all,
I'm building a computer to run win8, with two vmwares of mac os and linux at same time.

I needed to get a reliable ssd.

So 840 pro uses MLC, which I heard is much more reliable than the TLC used in 840 evo. Now the 850 pro is coming out but in same line as 840 evo it also uses TLC.

So wouldn't the 840 pro be better option than 850 pro for reliability?

MLC isnt more reliable, its more durable. Quite simply it can withstand more write/delete cycles than TLC can. Though do remember the durability is affected by more than just the type of flash it uses, it also comes down to the controller used, its garbage collection protocols and a bunch of other small factors.
Though really I wouldn't worry about it. Consumer level SSD's, especially among high capacity premium drives, you will never wear them out under normal usage in a reasonable time frame (say 10yrs).
