Graphic card to support a 24" gaming monitor

I wish to be able to run games such as Bios hock infinite & Farcry at full resolution using a monitor such as the AOC G62460PQU
My current set up is:-
Asus P8Z68-LX S1155 ATX Board
Intel Core i5-2500 3.3GHZ 6MB
Radion 6670 HD 800MHZ 1GB Gddr5 PCI Express
Corsair Vengeance 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHZ paired.
Western Digital Caviar Blue WD3200AAKS SATA300 7200rpm 16mb buffer.
In Coolermaster case supported with a 500w p/s.
I know at a minimum I will have to upgrade the graphics card, but can I using the same motherboard upgrade enough components to support my needs?
And can anyone suggest the card to use (prefer AMD)

If you have a decent power supply, then maybe consider the r9 280x for full res ultra.

If you're just aiming for full res at decent quality (say around high), the r9 270/270x would do just fine.

I would suggest a new gpu and PSU. The PSu that shipped with the case is probably low quality garbage, but I would need the psu's model# to confirm.

The case was without a Psu I fitted an Antec Psu but cannot remember the model once I have shutdown I will confirm

I would suggest replacing it with a better model before a gpu upgrade.

No. A pci-e 2.0 slot will not bottleneck a 280x.

Upgrade Gcard to, Asus Radion R9 280X PCI express 3.0 HDMI
Upgrade PSU to XFX 550W core edition 80+ bronze PSU
Upgrade monitor to AOC G2460PQU
These are the components available in U.K.

Looks good, but if you upgrade the motherboard you'll also have to upgrade the CPU. Your current cpu is socket 1155 and it will not work in a socket 1150 motherboard.

I don't see a real need to upgrade the motherboard. Your cpu is locked anyways. Unless you plan on doing a full upgrade, There is no real reason to upgrade your motherboard.

1150 supports the newer CPUs, latest stuff. 1155 is for sandy and ivy bridge I believe. Haswell is 1150, and it's the newest out of the three generations. No reason to go for ivy bridge or sandy bridge at this point. Haswell refresh came out recently too.

If you are gonna upgrade the board wait until fall when DDR4 and haswell-e are here...although they will likely be expensive. To be honest, I don't think you need to upgrade the CPU. I have a 2500k, same as yours but unlocked so I can overclock, and I don't run into a CPU bottleneck unless I am editing video.

Also.. You really don't need to upgrade anything other then the PSU and GPU on that setup as it is still pretty stout. You would be better off waiting a couple years when something that will actually provide a noticeable performance jump comes out.

His CoolerMaster case probably has enough room for the GPU. I would highly suggest this build.
