Hey there, could anyone please tell me what they think of the following build components? I want to make sure that I'm getting a good set before I actually buy them. If there are any suggestions of upgrades/downgrades that would better suit my needs, I welcome all advice. My main usage will be for gaming (League of Legends, Steam i.e. CS, WoW, etc.) Some HD streaming of movies might also occur. So here it goes:

Rosewill THOR V2 Gaming ATX Full Tower Computer Case
GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD5H LGA 1150 Intel Z97 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
XFX Double D FX-787A-CDFC Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
Intel Core i5-4690K Haswell Quad-Core 3.5GHz LGA 1150 Desktop Processor
Crucial MX100 CT256MX100SSD1 2.5" 256GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL9D-8GBSR
LITE-ON Black 18X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA DVD-ROM Drive Model iHDS118-04 - OEM
CORSAIR HX Series HX750 750W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready

Also, my budget is up to $1200, but obviously the lower the better as long as I don't have to compromise significantly on performance.

Is it better to put that much of the budget into only the gpu? I'm still new to building but I would think that might bottleneck the pc. Thanks for the response and advice though!

Go the intel build as the 4690k is much better than the 8350. Yes, usually your GPU will take up a percentage of your budget. And no, you will not experience any bottlenecking at all.

Well nothing will get bottle-necked.. but as DroneDroneDrone specified, INTEL build with that GPU is always a better choice.

Okay awesome. Last question (hopefully not a dumb one) will the mid tower case be big enough to accommodate those size parts? I was worried it might not but they seem to be pretty common among other builds

Yes, if you're talking about the intel build case your parts will fit. You'll need to remove the drive cages but they are... removable ( basically meaning you can remove them no problem/they were meant to be removed and where only there for people with a ton of HDDs/SSDs).
