Hello, my friend has a HP Pavilion 500-023w desktop computer (specs can be found here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c03770775).

I am in need of help in regards to installing a graphics card, however, both the process of doing so, and maybe could get a couple more recommendations of what to buy. They are mainly gaming, and that's about it. They're pretty involved in Rust, Gary's Mod. They are tapped out around $175.00 MAX. I thought this might be good for them: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202090 however any other recommendations will be appreciated.

My other concern is installing the card. Please note I already installed a 500W power supply for them. We attempted installing a card prior to this, but it was old and I was unsure if it worked. When installing a graphics card on a desktop with integrated video, do you have to disable the video for the card to work? I read up on what to do, but it still confuses me :S !

I need to have the card ordered by today, so any help asap would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!!

Either the R9 270 you have listed or a GTX 750ti, the GTX 750ti will use less power and because that HP has a 300w PSU you need it to be very low powered.

@spat I had the power supply upgraded to a EVGA 500W, so would the card I had originally listed be suitable for them? I checked and it is a 500W card, but performance wise it should be ok for them, correct? (it says 500W power supply required) Also, will I come across any troubles installing the card, or should it just essentially "plug and play"?
Thanks again
Matt

If you have a 500w PSU then it will be fine, in actual fact for the money you have it is the best for $/performance :)

AMD only say 500w minimum because some people buy cheap no-name brands and wonder why it kills it, so the 500w is just to cover themselves. R9 270 will be best for you :)
