I'm new to this forum and i have recently purchased a ASUS vg248qe 3d 144hz monitor, and i was looking to use my asus r9 290 gpu with the monitor to do some 3d gaming and watch 3d movies I hope the monitors 3d hasn't gone to waste as stuff pc related in Australia is rather expensive. Now I've looked hard and far for a solution to my problem but all the threads are a year or 2 old and im looking for some new news or any extra information, like if i could use Nvidia 3D Vision 2 GeForce Glasses Kit or would i have to buy a 3rd party emitter kit?

I don't think it will work. 3d vision uses active shuttering glasses (the glass black out 1 eye at a time very quickly, 60hz in each eye). This is a proprietary nvidia technology. I believe 3d support in games is enabled through nvidia drivers.

I have read elsewhere and on this forum people originally got it working with third party and software called TriDef but I wasn't sure. And not certain if I want to be buying third party stuff off ebay for $150 that might not work when the Nvidia kit is about the same off a trusted website.
