R9 280 for this PC to get ultra?

Im sure a r9 280 3GB RAM, with this CPU will achieve ULTRA on literally everything with nice fps?

what R9 are you talking about? they range from the 270 (a $180 card) to the 290X (a $500 card). your cpu will bottleneck a 780, and anything above an R9 280.

with the 280, you will get pretty close to ultra on most games. BF4 is a very gpu bound game, so thats why the a8-6600k could handle it. most games use more cpu power than bf4 does, so it will become a bottleneck.

ive never played arma 3, so i dont know, you can google some benchmarks. and why would you want over 200 fps?

Yes probably. Be prepared for some big swings in framerates as you play too

well, as stated before, the a8-6600k is a relatively weak cpu compared to modern i5's and i7's. that said, it should perform just as good as you see it in the benchmarks, which, as you stated, was ultra.

No it won't because your CPU IS bad and it will drag you down. I guess you will game on high, but Ultra? No way, unless it's some older games.

Also, it's not like R9 280 is some amazing GPU, it's OK, but really think for a second - if it would run everything on Ultra, what would be the point of better GPUs?

And with a r9 280 im sure it will do ultra BF4, and HIGH/ULTRA ARMA 3.

Instead of saying the cpu is shit when its decent, just answer about the settings for games.

There you go - Arma 3 performance IN DETAIL... R9 280 is actually Radeon HD 7950 - so just look in the chart - 25 FPS at 1080p on Ultra... with MUCH better CPU than yours.

What now?


In short - no you won't have Ultra in Arma3 - as a matter of fact, I'd say you will struggle at Very High too...

Ultra on Arma 3 is a real drain, but the r9 280 will still play it on reasonable settings and look damn good doing so.

The A8 will play it too, just not at a steady 60fps. I own an FM2 CPU (running at 4.3ghz, just like yours) and the fps is far from steady. In games like BF3 it's all over the place - sometimes 90, sometimes 40...

Put most of the settings to high / very high, there will be one or two settings that you might have to turn down. The game will still be very playable I'm sure, but you may get dips (it will look like stuttering when it happens).
