as stated by SS, the gold 6 pointed star next to our names and the title under our avatars indicates that we are official tomshardware forum moderators.
the only way to be a moderator is to have your name submitted for recommendation by an existing moderator when we have a roll call for new moderators. these recommendations are then reviewed by the moderation team and our community manager. any other mod can veto a suggestion and just being listed as a recommendation does not mean you will be selected.
generally moderators are selected from the most helpful and respectable individuals here on toms. often they are longstanding posters with lots of best answers and good knowledge however that is not a prerequisite. what is required is a level-head and good attitude.
