Hey guys, so I’m just about ready to jump over to PC gaming, I’ve found a build that fits my budget with a very good video showing how to build it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WQxr59KRto&list=UUw7FkXsC00lH2v2yB5LQoYA).

Here are the components it will use:
HDD: 1TB SEAGATE BARRACUDA
CPU: AMD FX6300 3.5GHZ 6 CORE
GFX: SAPPHIRE RADEON R9 270X
Memory: 1600MHZ 8GB

All together this comes to just over £430 which is around the amount I want to spend on my first gaming PC.

My question is will this PC be able to run the games I want to play. Ultra graphics settings and above 30 FPS is desired but not crucial so long as the PC can run the games well enough.

Here are the games I’m looking to run:
Planetside 2
Dayz Standalone
The Forest
Arma 3 (From what I can gather this game might be pushing it)
Starcraft 2
Civ Beyond earth

What do you guys think?

cpu boss isnt a very reliable source, it only compares the facts of the processor and not the architectures.

overall, the i3 and 6300 are very similar performance wise, but id prefer the i3 since it has a much better upgrade path (to i5 and i7). the 6300 is old and amd doesnt have any future am3+ processors coming out. the only upgrade would be to an 8320 or 8350. thoes are somewhat equal to the i5 gaming wise.

for the components you've selected, id say it will run ultra at atleast 30fps on most games, high/ultra on others. arma 3 is very cpu heavy so that might have to be medium/high or high settings, even with an i3 or 6300.

if you buy a 6300, you will have a motherboard with an amd motherboard with an am3+ socket design. to get an intel processor, you must have an intel board, with (right now) a socket 1150. youd need to buy a new motherboard to get an intel processor if you go with the 6300
