I know that no video card is without a certain percentage of bad units. However, I keep seeing reviews and posts about artifacts on the R9 series (270x, 280x, 290, etc.). Yet, at the same time, it seems that there are tons of people who still recommend them as a graphics card. I know the word "lottery" gets thrown around a lot.
So my question is this; How prevalent are the artifacting issues?

I see that to. just knowing the amount of threads on the -R- cards makes me want to avoid them till something changes .. also if there rebranded 7000 cards as claimed where are those threads ? I use a 7850 and don't seem to have issues .

From what I heard it is the "rebrand" that is the issue because they took the older (stable) cards, and pushed them to their limits - which may be partially responsible for the large volume of threads reporting artifacts. I mean, is there anyone with an R9 card that does not have the artifacts? I would assume that it's possible, I just wondered if some here might have more insight into how common the issue is. The more reports of artifacts I see, the more I cringe at the build videos on youtube that include them.

No artifacts. Also, be reasonable really. Don't you think there wouldn't be an actual uproar if the issue was as widespread as you think it is?

All rebranded cards work just fine, even if they got a clock bump it is very close to original anyway, a couple percents bump does not do anything there.
