bf4, crysis 3, bioshock infinte and much more games is made to work better with amd gpu:s, and you wont have as many driver problems with AMD gpu:s if you wan't to play those games tho, i would say that you should get a amd r9 280, my favorite price/performance graphics card. so a msi r9 280 is recommended.

indeed, as the r9 280 is quite power hungry, it performs very well. 600w psu is recommended for a r9 280 build. if you just have to choose between those two, i would reccomend the msi 270x, as the evga model ive heard that it is very noisy and poorly cooled. msi 270x is reccomended for silence and longer life-span, and better performance in some games. :)

I have an old 650 watt power supply. Would the 270X get me through a year, or would i be better off waiting to get money for the 280? It also has to be less than 265mm.

i strongly reccomend the r9 280 and live it though until you have the money, then you won't be needing to upgrade gpu more in the future as it's performance will do for years to come. i did it that way, i saved more money for a month to get a gtx 770 instead of a gtx 760. and im happy i did it.

Sapphire make among the better AMD cards, quality wise, performance wise and price wise. The 270x is, imho, the top AMD card in the mid-range class. It bumps heads constantly with the GTX 760. The 280 is, imho, the lowest AMD card in the enthusiast class of gpu's, and is right behind the GTX 770 in performance. The 280x bumps heads with the GTX 770. Any way you want to look at it, any of the enthusiast class gpus will outperform the mid range class, and by a pretty wide margin. Explains the need for the more powerful PSUs.

Yes, I'd wait and get the Sapphire 280.

I ordered the 780 last night! KungKarlXVI I haven't figured out how to choose as best answer, there is nothing saying that on this page.

That's because it is like $550. For that kind of many I have a lot of choices. lol :) I meant r9 280, just a little off.

yup, Intel is way too expensive for me! I went over board with my RAM and motherboard though. I have a Crosshair V formula Z and 16 gig of corsair vengeance pro 2400 megahertz.
