Will Noctua NH-D15 fit in Antec 1200 case?

Hi all,

As per above description, I have an original Antec 1200 case and am about to do an upgrade. I really like the case so I intend to keep it if possible (not having USB 3.0 ports doesn't bother me). The problem is the case is quite "thin" so I'm wondering what the best CPU air cooler I could get is? I've read somewhere that the Noctua NH-D14 will just fit, but what about the NH-D15? From the specs, it's 5mm taller than the D14. Has anyone tried this and can comment?

Thanks!

I have 1200 and NH-D14 ... fit but i have to cut a conner of the side fan off.

NH-D15 will fit but no side fan.. very very tight fit

i was going to get D15 ... but had a deal and D14 was $25 cheaper ... i'm getting a NF-A15 fan ... and that hope will improve mine to D15 ... hehehehe

I just installed mine into my antec 1200 and it barely fits with my boards CPU placement. The fan clips on the side of the case hit the heatsink itself but is able to kinda slip underneath it. I'm using coollaboratory liquid pro and not sure how long cure time is but I right away turned on IBT and I was hitting 100 c granted my room is hot. But that's what my megahalem with 130cfm panflo were getting.

So it looks like I can have the D14 with a (cut) case fan or a D15 without any case fan. Any idea which gives better overall cooling performance?

Godto, let us know how you go with the NF-A15 fans on the D14 and whether it improves your temps to D15 levels!

NF-A15 is little better .. more airflow ... just order it ... but still waiting for the bracket that Noctua sending me for the fan

their newer fan is over 100 cfm .. so it should be better .. if not they wouldn't put that on D15
