Kind of stinks, you can get great deals on Ivy Bridge laptops, and most people would never be able to tell the performance difference, but you have to move on eventually.

This is just a normal transition between generations of processors. As the next generation gains in adoption by manufacturers the price for those will drop and in a few years those models will be retired too.
