I have an opportunity to choose between two different CPUs and Motherboards with different components compatible with each. I need help deciding and I was hoping you guys could be of some help.

Core i5 750 2.6GHz (Quad Core Lynnfield)
16GB 10600 RAM
SATA2 with an SSD
USB 2.0

or

Core i3 2120 3.3GHz (Dual Core Sandy Bridge with Hyper-Threading)
16GB 12800 RAM
SATA3 with an SSD
USB 3.0

The main sticker here is the CPU. Is the i3 worth the rest of the benefits?

What are you wanting to do with the system? Gaming? Video editing? Simple web browsing?

Gaming I would have to say the the i3 would be the better, but it may lag behind it a few demanding games and over all its got usb 3 and Sata 3

Hey thanks. Since I posted the thread, the CPU was changed to an Ivybridge i3 3220, so in my mind, the Gen3 i3 is a no-brainer over the Gen1 i5.
The faster clock speed, the SATA3, and USB3 more than make up for the 4 physical cores over the 2 hyperthreaded cores
