Build Complete - Choosing Between Two Monitors

Hey guys. I've finished my PC at $950, and now I need a monitor. I will be playing games, watching movies (with a blu-ray reader and everything), and doing a ton of homework and doc editing (I'd like to be able to have two windows side-by-side (not two monitors)).

I'm debating between these two ASUS monitors:

The ASUS PB Series PB238Q 23-Inch comes at $185.99 @ Amazon
and the ASUS VS24AH-P 24-Inch comes at $207.99 @ Amazon.

The lower priced one looks to have MSRP'd higher than the other. Not sure if the 23" "ASCR" is worse than the claimed 50,000,000:1 other monitor (not sure if the other is ASCR or not, but general people seem to complain about it).

Though 1080x1920 is more commonfound, I like the thought of that extra height with the other. However, I am going to be working with a lot of text, too, and I am cautious about the DPI. Will is be a noticeable difference?

Ultimately, which is the better monitor? Not regarding price, which is better?

Thanks. Excited.

EDIT:
So now I'm also considering the ASUS MX239H after viewing some forums and looking through reviews. Currently it's $200 on Amazon. Oh, also I have Prime.

I would have the 1920 x 1200 panel... that's a lot more pixels for the money. The height of the other one is for the pivot-- will you ever use portrait mode on a 1920 x 1080 panel?

according to paper all the three monitor spec are the same.... regardless of the price ill like the swiveling action of the Asus PB238Q.... but when it comes to price i like the Asus MX239H.... if bang for the buck is wht u want ill say the Asus MX239H(if Budget is a problem).... If money is not an issue go for the ASUS VS24AH-P....

ill also suggest u this monitor since u will be gaming and watching movie....

It an ASUS VG248QE: (it 270$ on amazon).... & the, BenQ XL2420TE A Strong Alternative to the VG248QE.... And the Dell UltraSharp U2412M....

No, I'll never orient it in portrait mode. This will be my only monitor in my setup.

I guess it would help to mention that I will not be using a multi-monitor setup for the next four years, do not care about the quality (or presence) of speakers, and don't mind if the bezel is slightly larger (they're all very small now anyway). Since I'm in college, mounting is not an option, but I would prefer the option for the future (but it is *not* necessary).

Overall I am most concerned with the quality of screen. $200 is about the max I can go, and unless there is a really good deal bringing a HQ monitor down to about $230, I don't want any higher price range. Again, the actual screen is my biggest priority.

I do like the idea of the PB238Q's stand, but even the stand isn't too big a priority. Is the PB238Q's screen just as good as the others? Because It's only $185 AND has a good stand (so I'm thinking it's lacking somewhere).

You mention going with the MX239H because of budget, but it's $200 whereas the PB238Q is only $185. Is this intentional?

actually the MX239H Has only 2 HDMI and 1 VGA Port.... The PB238Q has 1 DVI, 1 HDMI, 1 VGA, 1 Displayport....
except the PB238Q has a swiveling action.... other than tht on paper everything is same except the design....
