HI,i was given a nice but old hp h8-1203.its motherboard has a single PCI Express x16 (Gen2.0) ,and its power supply is a stock 460W (100V-240V).It unfortunately has a GeForce GT 620,which though surprises me on what it can manage to run, only manages.Id prefer of course to do better graphics wise.

Im looking for a card,$200 and under, that will be a big step up from the 620,and work with the low end power supply and mb.

This system is currently attached to a SyncMaster T240 - LCD monitor - 24"

Any suggestions ?

I think 420w would be enough for a Radeon 7770 which is about $100 or less. If you go much further you're probably going to want to get a new power supply.

Thanks, looks like the 7770 and the 7790 are good choices. They really should show the power requirements in the ranking charts when sites make them up.

Whoops ,was just about to pull the trigger, and came across the gtx-750 ti.About the same performance and only requires a 300 power supply :)

This is perfect for me,as when i decide to move on from it,i can move the card to some of my even older systems :)
