This is a build I found with a review I actually liked and with a reasonable price. I'm looking for any suggestions or maybe better parts for around the same price. I am a complete pc noob who is looking to get into the pc gaming community and hopefully create a successful youtube gaming channel. I would very much appreciate the help so I don't mess anything up.

moved thread to /systems/newbuild/

you will want 2x4gb ram sticks.

i would suggest getting a seasonic power supply (or xfx) instead.

otherwise it will play games fine. recording at the same time however is a different issue and you will likely get drops in fps while recording.

if you can stretch your budget you may want to get the fx8320... i've seen it as low as $120. dont forget to get a cpu cooler such as the hyper 212 or similar as well.

I was planning on using an elgato capture card so I won't loose any frames. But yes I can stretch the budget I'm only going to buy a few parts at a time so I can afford it all. How come I should get the two 4gb sticks instead of one 8gb I'm just curious so I know for future upgrades? Oh and what exact power supply would you recommend so I don't mess up with compatibility?

the fx8320 is well worth the $20-30 extra.

two sticks because you can then run them in dual channel. see this http://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/1349-ram-how-dual-cha... but basically you get better performance in dual channel then single.

well.. what exact power supply would depend on where you live and what is available... but if usa the cheapest that i would personally go with in any of my systems would be $60 http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1550sxxb... although its not modular and modular would be better. sometimes this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-m12i... drops in price to around $55-60 which would make it also pretty good. i've seen the 650 xfx semi modular also drop down to about $65 sometimes which is a great buy when it does..

right now though, it doesnt seem as if power supplies are on sale as prices are about the norm.

if you are worried about compatibilities then add all of the components on pcpartspicker and it will tell you if there are any.

Well this was the power supply I looked at after you suggested a change http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0092ML0MY/ref=ox_sc_a...
but I don't mind spending a few extra bucks if I may need more wattage or better quality.

Another quick question can I over power the pc components with a higher wattage PSU then necessary?

By the way im sorry for the probably dumb questions but you are the first experienced person I've been able to talk to sometimes researching just doesn't answer or bring up all the things I need to know. I also appreciate the help alot.

you do not want the corsair cx since they use cheap capacitors and have been known to fail if you push it too hard. i just looked up that original evga model you suggested http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&fil... and it seems that for the price it isnt terrible however and would probably work.. however i would realy suggest going with a quality xfx or seasonic unit around 520-550w.

no, you cannot "overpower" a system. you can have a 1600w psu and a system which only draws 300 and be perfectly fine. the rated wattage is only stating the maximum it can support in terms of load. now while you really do not want to be getting something too large, having something 100w or so more than what you need is normal so that you arent pushing your psu to its limits. since your theoretical maximum load is likely about 450-480-ish off the top of my head.... and your actual loads are going to be less than that a 500, or better yet a 520-500 is more than good enough provided you dont plan on adding a second video card into your system later on.
