Im looking to buy an LED monitor with a budget of $100 new.
It has to have
- 16:9 ratio
- >=1600:900 resolution

QUESTIONS :
-Is 200cd/ms bright?
- Is 7ms response noticable compared to 5ms or 2ms?
- Can someone explain what IPS monitor is? Is it worth it or just a gimmick?

for now I have these 3 in mind :

(is AOC brand any good?)

-IPS is one of the 3 LCD types that gives superior viewing angles which is good for larger displays where multiple people are going to be viewing the screen at the same time at different perspectives. If the monitor is just for "you", then TN, VA, and IPS will suit you just fine. (IPS is preferred for professional video editing, animation, or anything application that has to have consistent/accurate color)

-Any monitor that features LED back lighting will sufficiently deliver more than enough brightness.

-As for response time, anything over 8ms is going to start having noticeable ghosting/blurring, but competitive gamers prefer 1ms - 5ms.

-AOC is becoming a respected company and is about on the same level as ASUS in terms of quality and you can buy from them with confidence. AOC monitors are very popular in the gaming market.

-If I may, I want to recommend a monitor that is on sale until August 20th, and features a full 21.5" HD 1080p screen, LED, 6ms response time, VA display for great color production. http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=79926&vpn=GW2255&manufacture=BenQ&promoid=1297

-If you choose not to go with the monitor I recommended, then out of the three that you listed in your question, the Acer monitor seems adequate. From looking further into the Acer, it seemed to have more positive feedback from customers than any of the other options you listed. Hope this helps :)

@Prit87 : Dude CMIIW contrast ratio doesnt mean its easier to see the 'details' just darkest color is darker and lightest colors is lighter. Well I guess it does but depends on what kind of 'details' u want to see (e.g comparing skin tone (if ur skin is light) to sand, having high contrast will not make it easier to see).

@tmacg55 : I cant buy from that website dude, I dont live in US (the ncix across the border doenst have it onsale). And I kinda like the idea of IPS monitor though (as u can tell if u're a physocologist, its the first on my list). Can you please give me reasons why I should get the acer rather than the HP Pavilion!! Sales Mode ON please !!!!

I know IPS is tempting, but remember that 1080p screens use the watered down version of IPS, versus the premium grade IPS panels they use in pro monitors that use 1200p and 1440p resolutions. 1080p IPS have 6-bit color, while pro 1200p and 1440p use true 8-bit color. 1080p VA panels use true 8-bit as well. So unless you are getting a pro monitor, then VA will be your best bet.

Again, out of the 3 that you listed, the most people were satisfied with the Acer monitor in terms of customer feedback, I don't own that monitor and can't tell you my opinion, you're going to have to go with your gut and make a choice, and if your not satisfied, just return it and get another one.
