Cant connect to wifi at school

I have a work laptop that is a member of my works domain. Went to my gf school and i cant seem to be able to get in the schools wifi, i know its because im in another domain.

My question is how come i am able to connect to my WIFI at home using my work laptop but not at my gf university? I did not take it out of the domain.

Whats the difference between my wifi at home and wifi at school?

Is it because wifi at school is controlled by a server?

Just wanted to know the difference. Thanks guys!

The WiFi at the school is most likely a protected network that would need a login and password to connect.

Yeah i get that it is protected. But it wont even let me put any credentials in. Im thinking it wont let me in because im a member of a different domain. but my question is how come my home wifi let me in the network without getting out of my work domain while the school wifi wont let me in at all?
