Mini Displayport to DVI-D VS DVI-D VS HDMI

Hey guys,
I have just ordered a new monitor for my pc. My Graphics Card has the following ports ; HDMI, DVI-I and 2 Mini DisplayPorts. The New monitor has the following ports ; VGA, DVI-D and HDMI. I was wondering what connection would be best, a mini DisplayPort to a DVI-D, a DVI-D or a HDMI?

Graphics Card : Gigabyte 280x Windforce
Monitor : Acer K242HLAbid

I would connect DVI to DVI or HDMI to HDMI, no need to use a converter with the display port if you do not need to.

And DVI-D works in a DVI-I port yes? Because the monitor is DVI-D and the gpu DVI-I
I guess i'll try a DVI-D cable in a DVI-I port. Hopefully it works!

Would someone be able to tell me if a dvi-d cables works in a dvi-i output port or would i have to use a adapter to make a dvi-d cable work in a dvi-i output?
