hi.

trying to get a good cpu for video re-encoding, usually from ts, tp files, that are tv streams at around 8-20 mbps, average and most files have 10-12 mpbs (@30fps) sound included(sound is top 640, usualy 320kbps @ 2.0) to files at 3mbps video 192kpbs audio(max 3.5mbps average for vbr)

all this using a budged build cpu/mobo/ram ddr3/psu/case/hdd already have/no gpu needed for gaming just for hd playback(1080p@30fps tops rarely) so gpu can be very low budged, also not planning to use for encoding.

i've read some tests/reviews that fx 6300 has some decent speed in reencoding over i3(for full software recoding). but i've read that the 3th gen of intel specialized quick sync on the 4th gen ix cpu is quite good at recoding using hardware.

i don't look for speed over quality, but i will like to swap good speed for a small quality lose if the hasswell is good for lower source to target mbps for video reencoding.

anyone has experience with using any of this cpus for the same(or close values). i usually reencode using mediacoder or handbrake(i understand only hb has quicksync support?). i have over 1tb of data to reencode my old pc has awful speed about 0.3x.

also cpu possible candidates:

amd fx 6350 also same price as 6400 or i3 4150
or amd fx 8320 or intel i3 4350 4330 4130 which all have similar prices in my country(30$more than 6300).
my current pc is very antique intel core 2 duo e8400@ 3 ghz, 2gb ram ddr 2, p35 mobo gygabyte.

My pick woul be the i3. it gives you more upgrade room. you can upgrade to an i5 or i7 later on if you need more performance. The i3 is a good chip to begin with. I have at least one server that runs on an i3 with no problems.
