First I'd like to say I've never put a computer together before so I thought it would be a good idea to get some suggestions for parts first. My budget is around $1500 and like the title says, my purposes are for gaming and video editing/rendering/recording with programs like sony vegas, adobe premier, fraps, etc.

Again I'm pretty new to building my own rig so please bear with me if I made mistakes with compatibility. :)

So far I've thought of using these parts for my build
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
GPU: GeForce GTX 770
CPU Cooler: Hyper 212 EVO
Storage: 128GB SSD
Storage: 1-2TB HDD
Memory: 16GB

For future considerations I have thought of increasing my RAM as well as possibly dual or triple monitoring. Given this information, what kind of motherboard should I invest in? I also have some concerns regarding my cpu. I've read that the 4790k can run quite hot and was wondering if the Hyper 212 EVO is sufficient. And lastly, thank you for taking the time to read and give your input, it means a lot to me :)

I forgot to mention that I'm gonna use my pc quite often so would a gold certified PSU be required? Also why did you choose the Radeon over the GTX? I apologize if my questions seem a bit noobish

This psu is absolutely fine for this build and there'd be no difference between the bronze and gold. Just that the gold is higher quality but imo you dont need it.

I chose the r9 290 rather than it is nvidia counterpart, the gtx 780 as it has extra vram and cheaper for the same performance.

Unless you want to use shadow play to record your games (which is very very good) there is no point.

Okay thanks :). Also am I right in assuming the Hyper 212 is enough for the 4790k? Would I need to install additional fans or look for a liquid cooler?
