Monitor doesn't go to sleep on one HDMI cable

Up until yesterday, I was using my monitor with a cable that came with the box and everything was terrific - as soon as I turned off the computer, the monitor prompted that there is no connection and it will go to energy saving mode in a moment and so it did. Now I bought another cable (a right angled one cause I hanged my monitor on the wall) and when I turn off the PC, the prompt says that no connection is found but instead of informing about going to energy saving shortly, it just bounces around the screen saying "check your connection" and I have to manually turn it off. I tried a yet different HDMI cable and it works just like with the one from the box so the right-angled one is the only not supporting the auto-sleep and auto-wake functions. What may be the problem? It's HDMI 1.4.
