ALRIGHT! Everything is in order with my PC. Steam installed, Video card driver installed, google chrome, adobe flash, and java installed, mine craft for my brother installed, Max Payne 3 for 5 bucks installed and played at max graphix.

1. Now the only issue is that big picture mode does;t seem to be working properly. When I launch a game from big picture, is it supposed to bring up the window of the game right then and there? Because for me it doesn't. It brings up the window underneath big picture, I can hear the sound of the max payne 3 menu but not the picture. So, I have to exit out of big picture and move the steam window out of the way in order to bring up MaxP3, which completely negates the use of big picture...anybody have any idea/solution?

2. Also anybody know what anti-virus software I should install? Or has something already installed with windows 8.1? EDIT: Nevermind, saw that windows 8.1 comes with a built in anti virus defender program.

3. Lastly, are there any other drivers I should install? Other than the video card driver?

I see, I had this issue before. Sounds like Big Picture is not 'active' window whenever you launch it. Even if you can browse around the menus, if you look below the taskbar, you will see the big picture is not selected as the active window. Do you run big picture the moment the computer starts by hitting the Xbox guide button?

Anyways, you can try the steam beta which usually is upto date and have fixes for these issues. Steam > Settings > Account > Opt in Beta.

Whenever you launch Steam in big picture mode, make sure none of the windows are active and best to minimize them. That way you can guarantee that Steam Big Picture will be selected as the active window.

I presume you have installed everything that came with your motherboard. Usually vendors provide an app to keep everything up to date, you can use that. If you still feel you need to update something important, Intel INF is a very important software to keep updated if you are using intel system, not sure what is the AMD equivalent is.
