So I have a ps4 controller that I connected to the pc via usb, and it recognizes it as a wireless xbox 360 controller for some reason..but when I remove the usb, the pc can no longer recognize it.

And, when I go into big picture mode, it lets me navigate the menu using the controller, but when I press play on skyrim, the sky rim launcher comes up and I cannot navigate it with a controller..so I have to put it down and plug in a keyboard in order to use it. Then, the game automatically makes me use a keyboard for the game itself, and even though the xbox 360 controller part in the settings in game is selected, I can not navigate with the controller.

What is the point of big picture if you can not navigate game launchers with a controller? I am afraid that other games also will have launchers such as this that won't let me use a controller. What should I do?

EDIT: I just tried to launch Max Payne 3 with only the controller connected and with the keyboard/mouse not connected to the pc..and it failed to launch..so I NEED a keyboard? What the hell is going on?

Big Picture recognizes the ds4 as a 360 controller but for some reason the games don't recognize a controller at all. I am wondering if I just got a 360 controller the issue would be fixed

that's something I never understand. You have a pc but nevertheless decide to use a controller. Why don't you play games on a console then? And playing with a keyboard requires some skill but when used to it I think it's much better than a controller for games like Skyrim and others of that type.

Because PC can get better quality.

But if you don't have an answer to my actual question then please leave. I am looking for support, not criticism

My excuses   you'll need to check if the game supports controllers first.

I am sorry if I came across as mad. I just keep running to new problems. Yes, Max Payne 3 and Skyrim are supposed to support controllers. Big Picture recognizes the ds4 as a 360 controller but for some reason the games don't. I am wondering if I just got a 360 controller the issue would be fixed

Did you install some sort of emulator or what's it called?

I didn't install anything. As soon as I plugged in the ds4 via usb, steam automatically recognized it as a 360 controller. All the button prompts were xbox ones.

ooooh, but It's known that Xbox controllers work better on pc than dualshocks. Might work if you get a Xbox controller.

Alright..perhaps. But there is still the issue that some games like sky rim needs a mouse and keyboard to get through launcher. I thought they were fixing to make game launchers navigable by controllers like 2 years ago.And apparently steam is STILL in beta?? WHAT?

Christ it seems like things like Steam and DayZ will be in beta/alpha testing for eternity.

I am just confused..how did my pc recognize my DS4 as a 360 controller?? lol, I didn't download any drivers or anything
