Router clients cannot see Switch clients

I have a router and a switch. Switch is behind the Router.

Router has two clients with static IPs.

Switch has a single client with static IP.

Clients on the router cannot ping the client on the Switch.

Same network mask setup on each. Same default gateway on each.

Also, the switch has a web interface. I cannot reach it by IP from a client on the ROuter. But I can reach it from the client from the switch.

I know I am missing something basic here.

Correct same network mask, same gateway.

Router is an Asus RT-N66U

Switch is a Cisco ESW 540

I found a similar post where the respondent said to check that the port on the switch which the router is connected to is allowed to trunk VLANs. Not sure what that means really.

Clients connected to new switch cannot ping clients connected to old Router.

Existing Wireless Router. Static IP 192.168.55.1
Two clients from Router. Static IPs. 192.168.55.21 & 192.168.55.22
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.55.1

New Cisco ESW 540 managed switch. Static IP 192.168.55.50
One client. Static IP 192.168.55.23
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.55.1

Client from Router cannot ping Client from Switch and vice-versa. However, client from switch (192.168.55.23) has internet connectivity.

Something to do with VLAN trunking, maybe, but I am a bit lost. Trying to get the switch working to hang Ip cameras off it.

If you are only using one VLAN and subnet then make sure all your switch ports are members of the same VLAN (just one VLAN, the default VLAN is fine) and make sure all your ports are access ports that are untagged.

OK thanks. I just gotta figure out how to do that. Am I better off setting up a 2nd VLAN and subnet?

Is your switch new? It should come from the factory with one VLAN and all ports configured correctly for that. If you just want one VLAN and subnet I would try to do a factory reset of the switch. I would use only one VLAN and subnet unless you have a specific reason to use more than one. Using more than one subnet could be problematic for the Asus RT-N66U as I don't think it supports multiple LAN side subnets.

Correct. It's new (well, factory reset settings). It originally had a VLAN 1, and VLAN 100 (voice traffic). I deleted VLAN 100 leaving just the #1. Cisco ships em with that extra VLAN.

So I am down to just the one, but I don't think the "trunking" is turned on all the ports by default.

Actually it turns out it works when Cisco switch connected directly to router, but not when going through another switch. IE, Router -> Switch -> Cisco Switch doesn't work. I think this guy was having same issue https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/10809161/esw-540-24p-k9-passing-vlans-2950 not sure when he did to resolve and I cannot get on that site.

Hmm. Still an issue. New devices plugged into switch not recognized anywhere else in the network. VLAN probably not trunking. I guess I will wait to see if it eventually does.
