It's really a preference thing. The GTX 780 isn't as powerful as an r9 290x, but it comes with all of nVidia's features like Adaptive Vsync, PhysX and that sort of stuff. If you like those, a 780 is best. If you're going for raw fps and don't care about it, the 290x is a great card for gaming. In any case, both these cards are plenty powerful for 1080p, so you shouldn't be encountering any lag whichever one you choose.

r9 290x is winner for sure in comparison to gtx 780. r9 290x will always beat 780 in the games. Driver support from AMD is not bad. The only things nVidia offers over AMD that are worth noting are Shadowplay and G-sync and Shadowplay is nearly irrelevant now with Raptr's new GVR and unless you have a G-sync capable monitor it is also irrelevant.

Ok so now i am looking at gtx 780 ghz vs Asus R9 290X DirectCU II OC 4GB vs SAPPHIRE R9 290X TRI-X OC vs Gigabyte R290x OC WINDFORCE that will work with i5 3570k i hope that AMDs can work with that cpu cuz its pretty good...

That card cost 480€ in my country now its discounted from 525€ and yes i thought so i like the design and the clocks it seems like its the most powerful 290x of all for a really really good price.

mine is a sapphire R9 280x toxic, its blazing fast on my 1900 x 1200 screen, everything maxed out. The benches will tell you that it almost as good as a 780. For a card like the R9 290x; games like metro, BF4, arma and crysis 3 are nothing more than chicken feed.

Sapphire has a good cooling setup, they call it vapor x and tri x. I've a corsair 330R, silent and near dust free but I am not too sure about the airflow. But its not a problem, the rear vents provide some air for the 3 fans on the card. The Asus R9 290X DirectCU II OC is advertised as 20% cooler, 3x quieter, 4.7% faster, 30% less power,15% enhanced power efficiency,2.5% greater durability and 220% dissipation area than the reference AMD. Amazing statistics. It should be more than capable of doing a cool job. What more assurance you need? just go and get it and let us know how it goes.
