Hello,

I want to know what is better on which card, and I'm not sure, and if it is worth $120

Obviously the 740 has 4 times as much RAM, which is always helpful.

Sorry if I'm not being clear or making sense, tired while typing this.

Thanks much.

First, don't waste your money on 4 GB of VRAM on a card of that class. The very most the card would be able to handle is 2 GB. More likely 1GB.
Second, that would be pretty much a sideways move: http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-HD-5830-vs-GeForce-GT-74...

What is the resolution of your monitor?
What is the make/model of your power supply? Look on the nameplate.
Is $120 your budget limit? Because $120 will only buy you a GTX 750 which is marginally better than the HD 5830: http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-HD-5830-vs-GeForce-GTX-7...

I have to buy a new monitor, and it will be 1920x1080.

It is a Corsair CX750M

Not at all, I was just hoping that it would be that cheap.

Thanks.

OK. Since your PSU is capable and you will be gaming at 1080p, the only thing keeping you from getting a recommendation is your budget and the processor it will be working with. No sense suggesting a GTX 780 Ti if your budget is only half that or if your processor is a Pentium 4.

My processor is an AMD Phenom II X4 955, and my budget it flexible, would like to keep it around $200, but willing to possibly go higher, just gives me suggestions so I can think about it.

Thanks

Honestly the 750TI 2GB is your best option, or maybe the R9 270.

These R9-270X cards would be the most you'd be able to use w/o major bottleneck by the stock 3.2 GHz Phenom II X4 955. In a few CPU intensive games, you may see a small amount of bottle neck, but if you have the Black Edition version of that processor, overclocking it will eliminate that. I'm using an R9-280 on a Phenom II X4 965BE @ 4.0 GHz with no bottleneck... so far.

Sorry for not getting back to you all.

I do have the black edition of the cpu.

I went with a R9 270X, looks like it has pretty good specs.

Thank you all so much for your assistance in this matter.

Nice choice.

Yes, good choice. If you OC the Phenom II a bit, it will improve things. Easy to OC the Phenom II X4 if you have an aftermarket cooler.

If you need a good cooler, get the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, which is most definitely the most recommended cpu cooler on the market.
