Will 802.11 AC router be compatible with any WiFi enabled device?

I'm new to 802.11 AC, and I'm thinking about upgrading my Wireless N router into the new dual band AC one because of its speed and range. However, not all my devices are 802.11 AC ready, specifically, my phone and a couple of my laptops only supports B/G/N.

• 
  Will my B/G/N devices be able to connect with the router? (It doesn't have to utilize the routers full speed, only be able to connect and use internet)
  
  I'm thinking about getting the ASUS RT-AC87U; is this a good choice for a router?

Yes it is backward compatible and will support those devices.
