BEST BUILD YOU CAN GET! (it's without Monitor however but with i7 since new games will probably go with hyperthreading and you can upgrade your graphic card after 4-5 years and your CPU won't bottleneck it in other words it will still be perfectly compatible)

PS: price is in dollars and that is 1131.55 British pounds (add the monitor and it will be £1300)

You can also take Fractal Design Full tower case if you have the room for it, or obsidian destroyer :D

First of all, games will not use hyper-threading until all developers have the same playing field, ie. get the same equipment. The 4690K will be plenty and you can pair almost any GPU with it and it will not bottleneck. An i7 is made for more professional tasks such as video editing and 3D modeling. It has the same gaming performance as the i5 but with hyper-threading. That is $100 extra, just for hyper-threading which in my mind is a horrible deal considering the fact that a 780ti will not bottleneck on the i5.

Considering the fact that he has money to spend and that he will be using 1 monitor instead of 2 (NO NEED FOR TI) R9 290X is the best choice GPU ( why waste money eh ? ). When I said won't bottleneck your CPU I mend on the GPUs that will come out in 2017 :)
Also he can do bunch of other things while gaming thanks to i7 and its hyper-threading

The 4690K chip is probably going to be a better buy as it is a newer and faster clocked chip for around the same price. If, he is overclocking, he may want a noctua like my build or a CM watercooler. 16GB of RAM is complete overkill as most extremely demanding games only ever go up to 6GB or memory usage. He does not need 4TB of storage, he can get one 2TB and get a 250/6 SSD which will improve boot times of the games and the OS he installs on there. 750W is enough and that price for an 850W is definitely not acceptable. Why did you put an optical drive if you didn't add an OS

Thanks a lot for the help people I'll take a look at all these tomorrow. More help than I expected haha. One more thing, I don't see many people talking about the Obsidian 750D case anywhere. Anyone know if it's any good?

He gave us a budget of 1300 pounds. I gave him the best possible build for that budget. What "features" are you talking about? The i7 has exactly the same performance in gaming as the i5! Also, if he will keep this computer, he is going to be upgrading sooner or later. The 780ti will last at least 4 years playing games on ultra and the i5 can tag along for that time. Please give us some evidence to back up your answers. Thank you.

It is a very big case and is not that reccomended in the gaming world. It is more situated for people with giant water cooling loops who need the space to cool almost every part of their computer. I own the 750D, and the air 540 but I would recommend the 540 as it keeps the components very cool with all of it's airflow.

Obsidian 750D is not bad, but rather take Corsair Obsidian 800D if you are willing to spend that much money on a case coz it's the best pricey Full tower case you can buy...

Difference between XFX 750w and 850w was just 10-20$ :)

Oh and R9 290x won't last 4 years? Come on man what are you talking about, give me a break, it will last same as GTX 780ti (btw I'm always for nvidia but r9 290x is good quality and very close to GTX 780ti performance for 100$ so would rather go with i7 CPU than with GTX 780ti)

There are your arguments and evidences are all over the internet! :)

Again, what evidence do you have that the i7 is better than the i5 at gaming!!!! The 290X is more evenly matched with the 780, not the 780ti. It is the most powerful single card GPU on the planet as of right now.

Here is the video where you can see i5 4690k vs i7 4790k (take in mind that i7 4790k is NOT overclocked and it could be very easily :) ALSO i7 is more FUTURE processor and will fit better with NEW GENERATION GRAPHIC CARD 2017year and later)

PS: at the moment they have the same performance for the gaming part ONLY (non oc-ed i7)... in the future (next 5 years i7 wins big time for only 100$ more)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAROjjGTH0c

There is video R9 290x vs GTX 780ti in terms of performance (keep an eye on the fps on the top )

Enough evidences? (just to make sure I'm not radeon fun buy, my current PC is i5 4690k and GTX 770 :) )

The i7 and i5 were released at the same time, there is no difference in release date. The i5 can handle handy GPU that the i7 can handle with no problem. The only reason it is more expensive is because it has hyper-threading. You cannot judge a GPUs performance based on it's FPS on ONE game. That means nothing to a gamer. If you watch videos and see charts about the 780ti over multiple games, you will see that the 780ti triumphs. I have two systems. One has a 780ti, and the other has a 290X is crossfire. Being a fanboy of anything does not prove anything. As long as you give facts and not opinions, you are neutral.

UGHHH!!! i5 4690k is 3.5GHz stock speed i7 4790k is 4GHz! what processor will bottleneck GPU in the future before the other?

What are you talking about??? The video I have sent you is comparing R9 290x vs GTX 780ti in 6 ( SIX ) different games!!! You obviously didn't even click on it! Also R9 290x have bigger PEAKS thant GTX 780ti at crucial combat moments.

PS: EVEN IF i5 4690k and i7 4790k will ALWAYS be the same in gaming performance i5 will never have hyper-threading
i7 4790k costs 100$ more.

R9 290x TOTALLY comparable to GTX 780ti (R9 290x better in some games, GTX 780ti better in some other games)
GTX 780ti 100$ more (or even higher)

What is better to have.. hyper-threaded processor... or same performance graphic card ? :D

The clock speed does not determine a bottleneck, the strength of it does. I believe we have given the OP enough facts for him to choose a best answer. If you could do that, it would be very helpful.

Yes I believe that we gave him enough facts. With no further discussion because we are getting kinda off topic I want to close it here :). It was good discussion tho. I always like good debates :D and I respect your choice as well
