Hey guys, I've just bought three identical 23" monitors to use with my PC. I currently have a Toxic R9 270x GPU and it says on amd (shown here- http://support.amd.com/en-us/search/faq/170)
That you have 3 monitors with DVI/HDMI as long as they are the same monitor.

I am currently using
1x HDMI
2x HDMI to DVI

I can get two of the monitors working at any one time, so if I unplug one of them another comes on. I have updated all drivers and tried to reboot PC mutiple times but still nothing, it says ' To extend the desktop, a desktop or display must be disabled'

Does anyone know of any fixes? Would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Solution
Yes, they should work if all of the monitors are using DVI inputs and you are running two monitors using direct DVI cables and one DisplayPort to DVI (DisplayPort from the video card) with an active (powered) dual channel DVI adapter.

AMD's reference page about this is at:

http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/MultimonitorFAQ.aspx

Basically the kind of adapter you should be using is like this:

http://www.amazon.com/Accell-UltraAV-B087B-002B-DisplayPort-Dual-Link/dp/B002ISVI3U

It sounds like you are running the cables exactly opposite to the way they should be run. The normal HDMI connected monitor is correct, but the other two are likely connected using passive HDMI to DVI adapters (that are connected in reverse to their...

Ohh, this is all starting to make sense... Could I use this if I used a straight DVI wire?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B004SUO1GM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So I would use
1x HDMI
1x HDMI to DVI
1 x DVI into Active DP adapter?
Thanks for your help

It would really help if you gave the manufacturer and model number of your monitors to look up what inputs they have. It is possible to run different inputs to the monitors and have them work correctly. The simplest solution would be if the monitors have DVI inputs. Then you can keep the one normal HDMI cable (HDMI out on the video card to HDMI in on the monitor) and use 2 dual link DVI cables to run the other 2 monitors.

It could definitely work but what three monitors do you have?

Could I put a DP adapter into a HDMI on the TV?

That is not what I meant, just get a normal DisplayPort cable and plug it in. That monitor has a DisplayPort plug on the back - it is labeled D (don't ask me why) and is next to the HDMI 1 MHL plug.

You can use an adapter to convert it to HDMI if you want, but why bother?

It's just ive already got a DP to HDMI adapter.
At the minute I've got running,
1x HDMI
1x HDMI to DVI in GPU
1x HDMI to DP in GPU
Should this work? Having major issues.
I appreciate your help a lot, thank you

EDIT: This is now working but one of the monitors is always at 800x600... How do I change this?
Thanks!
