How do you game on one monitor when using a dual monitor setup

I have windows 8 and 2 identical monitors and i was wondering how i can game on one monitor and have the other one free for other tasks

Windowed mode fullscreen does wonders. Some games allow you to change what screen your display is on. you can change what your primary screen is by right clicking on desktop and selecting screen resolution. The option is there.
