Hey guys, I'm building a gaming pc and I'm putting quite a bit of money into in my eyes so i would like it to last! From the list of parts I've compiled below i want to know whether this will be good to go for a few years. I'll be playing on a 1080p monitor and hopefully upgrade to a 1440p monitor in the near future. Many thanks.
Case: Corsair 760t
Motherboard: Asus maximus vii hero
CPU: Intel core i7 4790k
GPU: MSI AMD Radeon R9 290
RAM: Kingston HyperX 8GB 1866mhz
Power supply: Corsair rm 850
SSD: HyperX 120GB ssd
HDD: Seagate barracuda 1tb

More about : future proof

I would save a bit on the CPU and spend more on the GPU. Why not picking the R9 290X?

Out of that, your PC looks awesome.

It's about as good as you can make it. If you want to "future proof" your system, you need to go with a high end CPU. for gaming, a cpu will last longer than a GPU. The next high end games will push current high end cards to their limits at 1440p, so dumping money in now won't save you. Even at 1080p the 780ti gets 45-60 FPS on some games. I would use this rig for now, then sell that 290 and get an 800 series card when they drop next year.
