Current specs are as follows (built in 2012 but SSD was a recent addition)
Motherboard - Asus P8Z77-V LX
CPU - Intel i5 3570k 3.4Ghz Socket 1155 (Overclocked to 4.5 w/ Corsair H60 Watercooler)
GPU - Pny Nvidia GTX 660 2Gb
RAM - Corsair Vengeance LP 4x4GB 1600 DDR3
PSU - OCZ 750w
Storage - 250GB Samsung SSD, 1TB 7200rpm Seagate HDD, 500GB 7200rpm Toshiba HDD
Display - Acer 1080p LED DVI (Primary), Xerox 1440x900 LCD VGA (Secondary - used for monitoring temps/chat whilst gaming)
Recently I acquired another GTX 660 for a knockdown price on ebay with the intention of running it in SLI with my existing 660. Unfortunately it turns out my current motherboard only supports Crossfire, no SLI (which has sorta put me off Asus boards if I'm honest) so I need to upgrade the board. Currently I'm running the 2nd 660 as a dedicated Phsyx processor and with my 2nd monitor plugged into it (no real performance difference if I'm honest)
I need a socket 1155 motherboard which supports full SLI (so both PCI lanes at highest speed possible), has 4 RAM slots, and of course multiple sata2/3 and usb2/3 ports. However, I'm now wondering if it would make more sense to take this opportunity to upgrade my CPU too, perhaps as part of a bundle and grab a socket 1150 i7 instead?
What does the community think? Wouldn't want to spend any more than £3-400 max, but the less the better. Any help would be much appreciated!
