I haven't bought a new monitor in 5 years.
Have expectations, policies, etc. changed regarding dead pixels?

My recent purchase has one dead pixel on a 27" IPS based Viewsonic. It's a couple inches from the top about a third of the way from the left side. Not really noticeable.

Anyway, are current expectations that panels should be defect free, are store policies making exchanges a problem or are one to two still considered good?

I have bought 3 new lcd monitors recently. One had a stuck pixel in a hard to see location. I don't think most manufacturers will refund/replace unless there are a certain number of dead/stuck pixels, anyway.

If you bought it from a retailer like Best Buy etc...they should exchange it without grief. Online retailer may be harder to get exchange.

But you would exchange over one pixel?

It would depend on where it is located. In line of sight, I'd probably try if they'd OK it. Off to one corner, probably not.

Pixels like that can actually be fixed. I had a dead pixel and after rubbing it with a soft cloth the pixel actually fixed itself after months, as soon as I started dusting off my screen.
